The First World War, that is a real long time ago. Russians designs really do last, from the Kalashnikov to an Aluminum Bottle. If only other countries designs last this long. This is why I love buying Russian Militaria over other Militaria, they really are durable.

The veschemok backpack for instance. At least dates to the GPW and still in use today although more as a kit bag than a combat backpack

Damn, so that's why that backpack looks real familiar to me. I might have seen it in some of the WW2 Russian War Films that they play in HBO.

I watched the movie "Enemy at The Gates", some of the Russian Soldiers backpacks looked very similar to the Veschemok Backpack.

They may well have been, despite the large number of historical inaccuracies in the film

I wonder why Most American War Films ends up with lots of historical inaccuracies, compared to films from other countries. Other Films have Historical Inaccuracies too, but not as worse as Hollywood films.
