In my country, the only time you'll see Mall Guards carrying guns are the ones at the Jewelry Store and they use Remmys not ARs. Stark difference despite the fact that we're practically neighbours eh comrade?

Yeah I guess comrade. One possible reason why mall guards here are carrying high powered rifles were because of some high profile stunts carried out by robbers over the last few years. In one incident, the thieves were dressed in Police SWAT uniforms and robbed a watch store. Although one of them got killed by an off duty policeman and the guy that got killed was the one holding the bag with the items and money. They got killed a few days later in an encounter with the police, although mall owners got more paranoid after that and hired more security sporting M16's, shotguns and sub machine guns.

A UMP is always a good choice, the stopping power of the .45 in a submachinegun

Do Security Personnel in your country's carry guns? Just wondering, since some foreigners that come over here seem surprised seeing security guards holding assault rifles in our malls.

Hahahaha, yes I know they are suprised as hell!
LoL
Here in Norway, neither the police carries guns. Only the "Garde" that "protects" the castle with dummyrounds! LOL!

In the US, some private security companies are armed, or have armed sections within their companies. Mostly personnel for guarding high-value targets. Armored truck delivery crews, for example, delivering large sums of money between banks and businesses, have them; as do some jewelry stores or private companies guarding government facilities.

But the training and insurance requirements are expensive, so a lot of smaller security companies don't have armed guards at all, or if they do, it is just a small group that gets higher pay.

Most private US security guards don't carry so much as a stick. Their job is to literally "observe and report". If someone breaks in, the security guard's job is to walk away to a safe distance and call police and try to get as much data by observation as possible. If the bandits see the guard and threaten him, he's to run away. The guard company doesn't want to pay for a dead or wounded guard if they can avoid it, and if a guard confronts an intruder he'll likely be reprimanded instead of rewarded. Even if someone else's life is threatened, the company will prefer that the guard stay out of it and let the police deal with it.

a policeman friend of mine in the US recounted to me a tale of turning up to a mall to arrest a shoplifter. It turned out the security guard had been grappling with the shoplifter, and then gave him a faceful of pepper spray. Subdued, the shoplifter was then taken to the office where the security guard pushed him into a chair, handcuffed him to a filing cabinet and then sat writing his report. When the cops turned up they took the suspect straight to hospital as he was in agony from the chemical burns caused by a lack of decontamination. The resultant lawsuit bankrupted the security company as it turned out they were issuing weapons without the requisite state permits. Worse still, a state nuclear power facility employed this same company and the company was regularly sending guards patrolling the perimeter with shotguns and AR-15's uncertified because state certification cost $3,000 per person and the company didnt think it was worth the certification

I saw a documentary once about security guards in South Africa, those dudes have bazooka's in the back of their armored trucks. I mean come on is that really necessary, compensation for something possibly?

No, in Africa, you would probably need something like that with the rampant insurgents.

Funny because you guys are posting and I literally got laid off yesterday.

Just lost my only job and I gotta pay rent...
On the brightside I called the district office and they gave me a new assignment. Full-time airport security at Louisville International Airport. I have to pass a government background check though. No problem. I did learn that to be airport security in America you have to be born in the United States.

Also, I never got so much as a taser.
I was allowed to bring in my own flashlight.
I found a Maglite.
