Perfect for the authentic look if you are emulating the Spetsnaz!!! I also recommend this if you are working in PMC in Iraq or Afganistan as its probably the best helmet you are likely to find, although such protection does have its catches; you will need to take this helmet off quite regularly as it weighs quite a bit and can get uncomfortable!!!
On the plus side it is fully adjustable to all head sizes and gives a good deal more protection to the ears and back of the head than most military issue helmets, and I have seen one of these save the life of a man shot at with a Dragunov, by the time the helmet got between the bullet and him the bullet had been flattened and mushroomed out, the guy heard bells for a few days and had a headache like he'd had 21 vodkas the night before but he was alive !!!

i've been thinking of getting one of these, but have also been worried about the weight issue.

I don't want to take it off one day and right after something falls on my head or someone's aiming for me. I wonder if i can lie down while wearing it instead.

that would work, it takes the weight off your neck muscles

i am so jealous you own a sphera thanks for the heads up in the review, the only issue i could see with it would be how it might limit youre hearing.

I dont own one but ive used one! as for the hearing issue any helmet will distort your hearing, even if it doesnt cover your ears

i'll actually get the helmet, but i want to get the 6b12/6b13 armor vest w armor plates first, so i'm actually seeing what deal i can get on the armour which will exhaust funds.

yeah its a shame the armour is so expensive, ive seen british armour without the plates go for around 20 pounds, i was thinking, why can't russian gear be like this?

i hate to say it, but a lot of the dealers who sell the stuff (especially on the russian side) know a good time to price hike and know a little more than half the time the guy on the other end is going to pay up. (no way in hell should a borit be almost $1000, but it is!)

but then again when it comes to militaria half the time you are dealing in black market prices whether you like it or not. (must be pay for risk invovled in getting the stuff out of russia. it ain't exactly splav they're offering)

yeah true seeing all those russian troops runing round georgia in those Borit's made me mega jealous (of the helmet not the runnign round georgia part)

you wouldnt be as jealous if you had to run and climb around balashikha all day wearing one
