So I'm going to begin to be an airsofter. But I don't know what I need. And I don't know what I should have. Could you guys tell me that? Oh, and any tips would be awesome too guys.

Seems pretty simple to me honestly, it's kind of depends on what skirmish you are going to, but the equipment remains the same. Just make sure you know what kind of rifle you want, and for what purpose as well, there are grenades and such you can buy or make, which make the game more fun but more dangerous in some aspects and costly. Other than having a good rifle, spare mags, and plenty of speed loaders filled with extra BB's, the only thing you need is your camo, safety goggles or glasses, and whatever else you think you would need for protection, and find a good game. There are details yes, but that's mainly what I've been figuring out so far, it doesn't seem too complicated till you get down to the rules, but I'm starting out kind of new myself, and it's not too difficult to get the hang of it.

Thanks Taurus. The rules were my next question. Should I recruit a buddy as my teammate?

Depends on the rules for your area. In most sites here in the Philippines, the minimum team members required is 7. The most important equipment that I recommend you buy first is the Face Mask or goggles. Because you can go blind if your eyes get hit by a high fps bb. Then the AEG gun itself. What real life gun do you like? There are lots of airsoft guns available, and the gun you like most probably has a airsoft equivalent. The bb's will hurt a first, but after a few games you will get used to the sensation of bring hit. If you wear thick clothing, you won't even feel the hits! Very Happy

what does AEG mean?

And my list of favorite guns:
Makarov PM
RPD
AK-47
Dragunov
A-91

I'm guessing I can only take one gun with me for a match? And if I wear thick clothing how will I know when I am hit?

You can have multiple guns in most games, I.E. a sidearm and so forth. I can send you a sight that has a technical support team that could really help you out, and they're in the US so don't worry about shipping.

I agree with gafrin, a good mask or set of goggles would really be required to be bought first even for practice in general. And AEG basically means electric airsoft rifle, it's normally better than spring rifles, unless you want to use a sniper... But most players avoid those since BB's aren't exactly accurate. Green Gas powered guns are another alternative, but you'll be filling up your guns canister more than you would have to with just charging a battery.

Also, be sure you look at the manufacturers also, CYMA is a good one to start off with, but try looking at other high quality providers such as Jing Gong, and VFC, prices go up and down depending on your rifle and how durable it is, from pot metal to steel, so it's your choice alone.

Typical rules in airsoft are pretty simple, you can tell when you get hit, trust me, unless you're playing in the dark you usually see the tracers hit you, and if they do, you can hear it pretty well also, it has a distinctive pop when they hit material, even padded clothing such as a PASGT Flak Jacket. Most places want you to raise your hand and yell, 'hit!,' if someone scores a hit on you, then you escort yourself to the designated revive zone and wait for up to 15 minutes depending on the rules. A lot of people allow you to dispute, but c'mon, no one wants that, so it's just as easy to just play with the code of honor and not risk getting booted off permanently from the zone area. Usually they have an objective to the game, from hostage rescue, to bomb disposal, to simple team death-match. Most places use red and blue ribbons to tell your team apart, and friendly fire is a big part in some games, so watch your colors. But all in all, if you can do small skirmishes with your buddies first, more skill to you, if not, you may want to become an apprentice in the professional local team's boot camp or something, before you actually hit the field, cause those guys can be pretty hardcore at times.. Especially in Ireland where they make their own airsoft grenades from shotgun propellant and BB's... I watched a video and I swear I never saw anything as real as combat as that was, young men were freaking out and screaming, explosions everywhere, game marshals dragging people out by their quick drag straps due to being hit with an explosive device, serious shit man... But I loved watching every second of it, I wanted to be a part of it badly...

So that should be all, if you have any other questions let us know, we would need to get every detail down in order to make sure you're pretty well knowledgable on the whole subject... Trust me, my first 'out-of-the-box airsoft war,' that I had with a friend of mine, ended pretty badly. I had pellet scars all over my back and arms, and I caught my friend right on the nose while he was wearing a balaclava, pretty brutal looking from a 450 FPS spring sniper...

Alright. I looked up places in my area and there's pretty much just one. I'm going to go down there and look at the surroundings, then decide what camo to get. I'll get a mask first though. Does this seem like a good gun? http://www.trinityairsoft.com/p-1402-echo-1-ak47-red-star-akm-wood-aeg-airsoft-gun.aspx#MoreInfo

This seems pretty interesting. I might have to buy one of those plots of land up in Indiana and build my own "playground" Mr. Green

This is pretty expensive... if I find a niche somewhere in the local community other than "kill count raiser" then I'll definitely stick with it. If not, I can always just have fun with my buddies.

So Taurus, whats the page you were going to send me?

Im afraid the only versions of those guns you will find in airsoftland are the AK-47 and the Dragunov

The gun you posted seems pretty decent. Not sure about it's quality in reality though, since I haven't handled an Echo 1 gun yet. It's a pretty sweet gun though if it is performs exactly as specified! Very Happy

I've heard very few users of Echo... They are way too flashy from my standpoint, teaming up with actual gun manufactures to make 'special editions,' that are three times more expensive than the others, plus that one is bare naked plain, let me show you a good one from this site, call their tech support and they will help you find everything you need. Smile They are the cheapest place around also.

http://www.airsplat.com/Items/ERM-BI-74-RK03.htm Very good rifle to start yourself out with, I'm still waiting on my JG Steel AK-74U. Smile
