Soviets used a stick grenade as well as the Germans! The Soviet one was actually shorter than the German one and the stick grenades in your picture are a pretty good likeness. The ball grenades look similar to RGD-5 grenades. A few years ago I used to make my own smoke grenades and bangers and somebody suggested I try making the exploding pea grenades but TBH I didnt fancy trying that one, too little margin for error! I did design a few bang-and-flash boobytraps that were electronically ignited and could be activated by a pressure plate or a tripwire. If youre doing anything like this they key is to keep it simple:- Too much complication and you get less margin for error!!!!

Ahh, I do recall! Feels like it was yesterday, but ain't it 3 years ago?

Also, I agree on the KISS-principle on, especially, the design of explosives. It has proven to be good, with Soviet/Russian weaponry as proof.
