Hello everyone, here is my newest acquisition; an older model TIG helmet with visor and self-made cover, like the kind used in Afghanistan!

Here is the helmet shown in photo bellow;

I replaced the chin strap myself, working on getting the original, but still a lovely helmet.

Ohh yes I do! And as soon as I get this freaking camera from Madison county I'm going to spend the entire day doing impressions in the back yard of my house. I'll cover FSB Alfa from Afghanistan all the way to Beslan!

What pattern did you get your 6B5 in? Smile

that's a great helmet, Taurus! I really love the 3rd photo...the front view looks amazing!

I like how the helmet's rubber liner/trip(?) has a pattern to it rather than just plain smooth rubber.

I really enjoy the TIG helmet, it will look great once I get all my Afghanistan gear on and finally get a camera shuttled down here!

The 6B5 is a very awesome little device, I'm a little unsatisfied with the design of the mag pouches though, the Velcro is oddly affixed oppositely to each other so when you rip one open and grab your mag it just flops in the wind until you stick all three of the strips back to its original position. And I've always thought it was strange how the side flaps go inside the vest and you have to fix your Velcro on the inside of the vest instead of on the outside like the 6B4 and modern Russian vests did.

When you put pictures of your vest up Vityaz we should start a body armor thread and put all the photos of our Soviet body armor in it to have sort of a reference thread. ^^

I dont mind the sidestraps going inside the vest personally, I like when all that velcro is nicely tucked away. But the part about the magpouches is true though.
